Let me see if I have this right:
We have members of the current administration that have been shown to authorize the sale of firearms to Mexican drug cartels, which are then used to murder a border patrol agent, and no one is held accountable. Despite there being further investigations that have uncovered many more firearms sold to criminals under the Fast & Furious scandal, and all that has happened is our President has blocked his buddy from being investigated. Let us also not forget that Holder himself was in charge of the investigation against him, which seems pretty convenient. Yet they do not want legal owners to have guns. Does anyone else see the problem here?
Now, one of the biggest anti-gun advocates in California is arrested for trying to bring illegal firearms into the country to sell without the necessary licenses. He is also being charged with accepting bribes and wire fraud. Yet it is these kinds of people that are doing everything they can to take LEGAL guns away from legal and responsible owners.
Now, I am not saying that every gun owner is responsible in their ownership, then again neither are all car owners. As has been stated before, I am seeing all kinds of attacks on legal guns that are in the hands of legal owners. What I am not seeing is any kind of plan that actually removes guns from the hands of criminals. With all the gang activity in this country and the crimes being committed and all our government can do is blame and attack everyone that is not committing those crimes.
You cannot punish people BEFORE they commit a crime unless you know with 100% certainty that they are going to commit the crime, otherwise we could all be arrested and charged at any time and for anything. We are all capable of committing a crime, so using the logic that most anti-gunners use, let’s make criminals out of law abiding citizens, arrest them, then claim that we are making progress with the war on crime. That is a dangerous logic to possess and try to make policy.
Like I was told when I was a kid, a lock will only keep out the honest people. New laws will only be obeyed by honest and law-abiding people. Criminals, by their nature, do not really care about the laws, which is why they are criminals. I want to see more anti-gang programs that would greatly reduce the flow of illegal weapons, but any member of government should be held accountable as well for their part in any and all illegal activities they are a party in. Something cannot be illegal for the citizens and legal for the government, at that point you have the tyranny everyone wants to pretend is not real.
